As Director of Human Services for the City of Paterson, I thank you for your interest in obtaining information on the Paterson Municipal Alliance Prevention Program. On this home page we'll introduce our program and highlight important activities and information related to our substance abuse prevention efforts in Paterson, New Jersey.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

In 1990, The Paterson Municipal Alliance was established. The Alliance is an independent, no-partisan, nonprofit organization committed to addressing the problems of substance abuse in the City of Paterson.

The Alliance has on its committees, leaders from the educational system, local government, law enforcement agencies, clergy and businesses. This group of leaders is dedicated to developing and increasing educational programs dealing with the issues of Substance Abuse in our city by increasing community awareness of the problems and its devastating effects. The Paterson Municipal Alliance has implemented projects and funded programs that are committed to educating and providing prevention methods in the effort to combat the ills of Substance abuse in our community.

MAJOR STRATEGIES:

To identify funding sources and to apply for grants to increase resources available to fight substance abuse in the community and to assure the continuity of the Paterson Municipal Alliance Prevention Program / Coalition for a Drug-Free Paterson.

To organize a media campaign against substance abuse via billboards, posters, cable television, a website and newspaper article's about the MAPP/Coalition.

To link with existing programs and develop additional youth resources for the prevention and treatment of substance abuse among Paterson's youth. Presentation of an annual "Zero Tolerence" Youth Anti-Drug Week and an annual Youth Summit.
To organize a media campaign against substance abuse via billboards, posters, cable television, a website and newspaper articles about the Drug Free Communities Program.

To link with existing programs and develop additional youth resources for the prevention and treatment of substance abuse among Paterson's youth. Presentation of an annual Youth Anti-Violence and Anti-Drug Week and an annual Teen Summit.
